Knowing when your Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) payment is arriving is crucial for managing your bills and daily expenses. If you live in Alabama and want to check the status of your SSDI payments, here are the best ways to stay updated and avoid confusion each month.

Find out if you qualify for SSDI benefits. Pre-qualify in 60 seconds for up to $4,018 per month and 12 months back pay.

Please answer a few questions to help us determine your eligibility.

1. Use Your SSA Online Account

The most efficient way to check your payment status is by creating a my Social Security account at www.ssa.gov/myaccount. With this account, you can:

  • View your upcoming payment dates
  • Check your current payment status
  • See your payment history
  • Update your direct deposit information if needed

2. Review Your Bank Account

If you have direct deposit set up, check your bank account on the scheduled payment date. SSDI payments are usually deposited early in the morning on your payment date. If it’s not there by noon, check again later in the day, as deposit times can vary by bank.

3. Know Your Scheduled Payment Date

SSDI payment dates are determined by your date of birth, not your state of residence. The general payment schedule is:

  • Born on the 1st-10th: Payment is on the second Wednesday of each month
  • Born on the 11th-20th: Payment is on the third Wednesday of each month
  • Born on the 21st-31st: Payment is on the fourth Wednesday of each month

If you started receiving SSDI before May 1997, you will receive your payment on the 3rd of each month regardless of your birth date.

4. Call the SSA Directly

If you cannot check online, you can call the Social Security Administration at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) to:

  • Confirm your payment status
  • Report a missing or late payment
  • Ask about any issues delaying your benefits

Representatives are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

5. Visit Your Local SSA Office

If you’re unable to resolve your payment issue online or over the phone, you can visit your local Social Security office in Alabama for assistance. It’s best to schedule an appointment to reduce wait times.

What to Do if Your Payment is Late

If your SSDI payment has not arrived:

  • Wait at least three business days before reporting it as missing
  • Contact your bank to confirm no issues with your account
  • Then call the SSA to report the missing payment and request assistance
